Bookkeeping, controller, and fractional CFO support for nonprofit organizations in Williamsport, Lycoming County, and across northcentral Pennsylvania, from a former nonprofit audit manager who knows what your auditor, your board, and your funders expect.
Nonprofits answer to boards, donors, grantors, and auditors, and the accounting rules reflect that. We are nonprofit industry experts and excel at assisting organizations with tackling the details below.
Tracking donor restrictions and releasing them correctly, so your net asset balances are right and you always know what's actually available to spend.
Recognizing grants and contributions correctly, including conditional contributions under ASU 2018-08, and keeping the records your funders and auditors will ask for.
Allocating costs across program, management & general, and fundraising in a way that's consistent, defensible, and ready for your financial statements and Form 990.
Books that hold up under audit, including Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) requirements for organizations that spend federal award funds.
Clear monthly financials your board and finance committee can actually understand, with a walkthrough so you're never presenting numbers you can't explain.
Proper tracking of endowment funds and board-designated reserves, kept separate from day-to-day operating money.
Our three service tiers each build on the one before. Here's what each looks like for a nonprofit.
For smaller organizations that need clean, accurate books and reliable monthly reporting.
For organizations with an annual audit, federal funding, or a growing staff and budget.
Fractional CFO support for executive directors and boards making bigger financial decisions.
Available on its own or with any tier. We prepare PBC schedules, reconcile audit support, handle auditor inquiries, support Single Audits, and clean up the books before fieldwork starts, so your audit goes faster and your team isn't scrambling.
I'm Nick Ring, a Lycoming College accounting graduate who spent my audit career at national CPA firms, most recently as an audit manager at a top 10 firm, where the majority of my clients were 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations. Today I also serve as a Controller, so I know nonprofit finance from both sides: what auditors look for, and what it takes to run the books day to day.
We focus on small and mid-sized organizations, typically those too big for a volunteer treasurer to manage alone but not large enough to need a full-time finance staff.
Yes. We don't perform audits. We work alongside your auditor, preparing your books and schedules so the audit runs smoothly. Any nonprofit with an annual audit falls under our Controller tier.
We don't prepare tax returns, but we keep your books 990-ready and coordinate directly with your preparer so they have what they need.
We're based in Lycoming County and love working with local organizations, but we also serve nonprofits remotely anywhere in the country.
If you have an annual audit, you'll need at least the Controller tier. Beyond that, it depends on your budget, staff, and how much help you want with planning. A free consultation is the easiest way to figure it out.
